This bias has been shown to apply to our own identities, therefore our tendency to think that we will only do what we’ve at all times done. Not a fantastic strategy when what we’ve all the time carried out has made us depressing… To offset useful fixedness, profession change must involve a creative process. We need to sneak up on the mind to think anew about our options. Many people consider creativity as a ability, or a expertise. Yet creativity is basically neither â€" it is a choice. At the guts of this alternative is a willingness to sit down with ambiguity and imperfection. Although creativity usually sounds sexy and analysis dull, in reality our mind far prefers evaluation. It craves certainty. Yet if we reach for certainty too early, we terminate a dialog with ourselves simply on the point when it’s getting interesting. Thinki ng creatively and strategically about our careers is crucial for many of us. Without it we danger paralysis. But to pursue it takes courage, which in turn takes willingness.
